The Truth about Premature Ejaculation

0

Premature ejaculation is a major sexual problem for men and yet it is talked far less about than erectile dysfunction. The main reason for this is that the little blue pill (Viagra, Cialis etc) has become part of the mainstream due to the huge media spends that its manufacturers have used to spread awareness about ED and consequently achieved huge sales for its product.
PE on the other hand has long been shrouded in mystery and myths mainly due to long held false beliefs about this medical condition and the key word here is medical condition, most people believe that premature ejaculation is due to psychological factors or other activities like masturbating    (especially if you start early) or that premature ejaculation only affects young males who are not sexually mature etc.
The reality is that while some psychological issues may trigger PE, there are biological reasons as well for this condition and some men are just born with it. But the good news is that it can be treated in most cases through a mix of counseling and medication. Doctors are now experimenting with using SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) which are antidepressants ( the side effects of which can include delayed ejaculation but also cause ED), and other numbing agents which reduce the sensitivity of the penis.
These medications have some problems and limitations which include the following:
•    SSRIs can cause loss of Libido (loss of or reduction of sexual desire).
•    Erectile Dysfunction (loss of or weak erection).
•    Difficulty in establishing the correct dosage.
•    Numbing agents may also numb the genital area of the female partner, which can lead to loss of sensitivity and pleasure.
There is no need to be ashamed if you suffer from premature ejaculation as you are not alone ( about 30% of men suffer from this condition) and instead of suffering alone and being depressed about it, you need to consult a qualified medical professional who can guide you towards the right type of treatment so that you can be on your way to enjoying your sex life with your partner and be under no pressure to perform.
